As the Movement Building Manager for Waterkeeper Alliance, Christian brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our global movement. Christian started with Waterkeeper Alliance in 2015 as the North Carolina CAFO Field Coordinator, helping to train and lead 10 Waterkeeper organizations throughout the state to collect scientific evidence of water pollution from factory farms. His work continues to successfully support legal actions and statewide policy reform.
Before joining Waterkeeper Alliance, Christian enforced environmental laws as a National Park Ranger at numerous locations in the United States, including Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve, Alaska where he served as Lead Law Enforcement/ Backcountry Park Ranger (2009-2011), Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, and Olympic National Park in Washington. At the National Park Service, Alaska Region (2004-2005) Christian was responsible for maintaining data on public comments on park management issues, and at the United States Geological Survey (2003-2005) he supervised the collection and processing of surface water quality data at remote stations on the Yukon River. Christian obtained his B.Sc. in Environmental Science from Alaska Pacific University in 2005.
Christian has proven ability in working with rural residents, the general public, and state and federal officials, sharing knowledge of the outdoors and environmental conservation through scientific education and law enforcement.
