Any personal information we collect is used for internal review and is either discarded or used by us to contact members for purposes such as those described below. We keep confidential all personal information entered during website registration and on the reply slips of direct mail.

When we do collect personally identifiable information, it is always voluntarily submitted by you (e.g., when you fill out the website registration page or send back a direct mail reply device.) The information collected is used to send our users email alerts, reminders and other information we think will be of interest, and is encrypted with SSL.

If, for any reason, you would like to be removed from our mailing lists, you can unsubscribe by clicking the unsubscribe link on any email you receive from us. You can opt-out of direct mail by indicating so on any reply device sent to you, by sending an email to [email protected], or by calling Waterkeeper Alliance’s office at 212.747.0622.

We also monitor and track information such as member usage patterns of our website and direct mail response patterns through Google Analytics Demographic & Interests features. We compile this information into a statistical aggregate which we use, together with your personal information, for internal business and administrative purposes including improving our website, our operations and customer service. The statistics contain no personal information and cannot be used to gather such information. You may opt-out of our Google Analytics tracking here.

Protecting your privacy

From time to time we make our membership list available to other like-minded non-profit organizations and also buy/trade lists from such organizations. As part of our commitment to ensuring the privacy of our users, members may “opt out” of having their names sold or exchanged by sending an email to the email listed above. In order to assist with our outreach, we do share limited personally identifiable information with our direct mail house and online data manager who maintains email lists and hard-copy mailing lists on our behalf.
