Marc Yaggi, Executive Director of Waterkeeper Alliance, a global movement uniting more than 350 Waterkeeper groups around the world focusing citizen action on issues that affect our waterways, released the following statement:
“In the United States, the last four years posed immeasurable challenges to environmental protection and have devastated many of the laws and regulations that we rely on to keep our water clean and our environment healthy. It’s crucial that our movement for clean water is forward-looking and we are filled with hope for the future. We congratulate President-elect Joe Biden on his well-earned victory, and we look forward to working with his administration to tackle the existential threat of climate change, restore our environmental protections, safeguard American waterways and the communities that rely on them from damaging pollution, and ensure that all voices — especially BIPOC and other marginalized groups — are heard. There’s so much at stake; Waterkeeper Alliance and our more than 175 Waterkeeper groups in the United States are ready to get to work.”
