“Forever chemicals” have been unregulated for way too long. Now is the time to take action to
end their toxic release into our waterways.
An ever-increasing group of contaminants known as PFAS, or per- and polyfluoroalkyl
substances, is one of the greatest threats to our nation’s waterways and water supply. EPA has
known about the health hazards of PFAS for decades, yet they remain largely unregulated.
These highly toxic PFAS are also known as “forever chemicals” because some of them can take
thousands of years to break down. They’re linked to a variety of health hazards, including cancer.
They are everywhere:
- 2,854 contamination sites have been confirmed in 50 states and two American territories.
- 110 million Americans are estimated to have some level of PFAS in their drinking water.
- 97 percent of blood samples in a recent study were found to contain PFAS.
If these figures disturb you — and they SHOULD — then please partner with me and other Waterkeepers all over this country today in the fight for water that is free from toxic PFAS.
Our safety and the health of countless future generations depend on the support of dedicated eco-warriors like you.
Will you join the fight today with your gift of $15, $25, or, if you can, even $50 to help undo the damage of prior administrations and hold these evil chemical corporations accountable?
Waterkeeper Alliance is the largest and fastest-growing non-profit solely focused on clean water. Every dollar you donate will be put to work immediately to save our precious waterways and fragile climate.
When you respond, please sign the enclosed petition demanding that EPA’s administrator accelerates the implementation of commonsense regulations of PFAS.
You can help bring an end to the release of these toxic chemicals into our water. But there’s no
time to delay . . .
For over 20 years, Waterkeeper Alliance has worked to monitor, report, and advocate for
clean, healthy, and safe water — but the stakes have never been higher.
- EPA has added 175 PFAS to the Toxic Release Inventory (TRI), but regulations are still needed.
- EPA announced it would regulate two PFAS in March 2021, but the promised regulations have not yet been enacted or enforced.
- In April 2021, EPA Administrator Michael Regan announced the formation of an EPA PFAS Council with the responsibility of identifying action priorities within 100 days, but the report has not been released yet.
- In October 2021, EPA released a PFAS Strategic Roadmap to set national drinking water standards and designate certain toxins as hazardous under the Superfund law, but we are still waiting.
The battle is heating up, and we need the support of eco-warriors like you who are committed to fighting for clean, safe, and toxin-free water.
Together, we will demand action and hold EPA accountable for the protection of our waterways and water supply!
Please, send your most generous donation today and make your voice heard by signing the petition to EPA Administrator Michael Regan, urging him to accelerate the process of regulating PFAS out of our water supply to protect our environment. EPA must do as promised and act now to overcome the tragedies of the prior administration and focus on clean water for all of us.
Your support today will fund lawsuits and other crucial efforts to fight “forever chemicals” and keep our water drinkable, fishable, and swimmable. Now more than ever, clean water and the health of our nation depend on you. From the bottom of my heart — thank you!
