Kate McPherson is the Narragansett Bay Riverkeeper at Save The Bay. She joined Save The Bay in May of 2018 and works on river restoration and advocacy issues across the entire Bay watershed within Massachusetts and Rhode Island. She supports community efforts at the local level to protect and restore rivers, streams and coastal habitats, and advocates for statewide policy changes that support watershed health. Kate holds a B.S. in Wildlife Biology and Management from the University of Rhode Island. She brings 14 years of experience in Freshwater Wetlands Permitting at the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management to the Riverkeeper position. She has extensive experience in wetland identification, delineation, field botany, evaluation of wetland and riverine functions and values, and the rules and regulations which govern the administration of Rhode Island’s wetlands. She is a dedicated birder, brewer, runner, cyclist, and naturalist.
