The Han River (Hanjiang) is the largest tributary of the Yangtze River. It rises from its source in Shaanxi Province, and pours into the Yangtze River in Hubei Province. The section that flows within Xiangfan's boundary is also known as the "golden waterway." Its beauty has been compared to the Rhine River in Germany. However, it is threaten by the South-North Water Transfer Project, which is diminishing the water quality from drinkable to non-drinkable.

Ke Yang graduated from the Chengdu University of Electronic Science and Technology Computer Department. He worked as a part-time technical specialist for the Green Han River (sponsoring organization of Middle Han River Waterkeeper) in 2003 and became a full-time project assistant in 2010. Since then, Mr. Yang has produced many promotional videos such as Swimmable Water Week, a documentary of the Tang River pollution case, and Green Han River’s 10-year anniversary video. His skills and experience in the environmental field allow Mr. Yang to continue prior Middle Han River Waterkeeper Jianli Yun’s legacy and establish his own as the Middle Han River Waterkeeper.
