With over 20 years of nonprofit experience, Katie Cecil has dedicated her career to advancing environmental, educational, and social justice and public health. She works in partnership with top donors, volunteer leadership, and programmatic staff to secure transformational gifts that align with both the organization's mission and the donor's vision for a better world.
Previously, Katie raised funds and awareness for blue-chip nonprofit organizations including Earthjustice, American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), and International Rescue Committee (IRC). She closed multi-million dollar gifts, organized events on three continents, launched and contributed to multiple capital, branding, and fundraising campaigns, and hired, mentored, and led a diverse team of high-performing fundraisers. She was born in Chicago, got her accent in San Francisco, then spent most of her formative years in Dallas. She holds a degree in Psychology from Bryn Mawr College.
Water makes Katie happy, whether she's on, in, or near it. She enjoys swimming, snorkeling, floating, kayaking, canoeing, sailing, or simply watching the waves. Katie is also an avid gardener and household farmer. She and her partner, Phil, are known for their 50+ person backyard BBQs in Brooklyn (that usually include homegrown produce and vegan options). Though Phil's the cook, Katie loves to host. She takes great pleasure in setting a beautiful table for a dinner party. They also love to travel, particularly for the food.
