Khephuk Sakti Gonpa, a Himalayan Glacier Waterkeeper Affiliate

The Indus River in Ladakh, India is part of a major transboundary river system that begins in the glaciers of western Tibet, flows north through Jammu & Kashmir in India, and bends south through Pakistan into the Arabian Sea.  The Indus River, its tributaries, and communities are increasingly subject to devastating floods from extreme weather events, draught from rapid glacier melt, and unsafe drinking water resources degraded by plastic pollution.  Himalayan Glacier Waterkeeper Affiliates have joined the Waterkeeper movement, inspired by His Holiness Gyalwang Drukpa’s dedication to living harmoniously with the environment, and his efforts to ensure that people are prepared to protect and reverse the effects of climate change.

Venerable Mepham Jigmet, the Khephuk Sakti Gonpa Himalayan Glacier Waterkeeper Affiliate, is excited to be part of the Waterkeeper movement."I thank His Holiness and Waterkeeper Alliance for giving me a chance to contribute to this great effort for clean water for the world."
