Boulder Creek flows 31.4 miles from the continental divide in the Indian Peaks wilderness area to the confluence of St. Vrain Creek east of Longmont, CO and eventually into the Platte, Missouri and Mississippi Rivers and into the Gulf.It flows through and around the towns of Nederland, Boulder, Marshall, Eldorado Springs, Louisville, Lafayette and Erie taking it from its high alpine origin near 13,000 feet through mountain canyons into urban areas at just above 5,000 feet. Boulder Creek was historically significant during the gold rush era for mining activities, a key reason for the founding of the City of Boulder.
