Boulder Creek flows 31.4 miles from the continental divide in the Indian Peaks wilderness area to the confluence of St. Vrain Creek east of Longmont, CO and eventually into the Platte, Missouri and Mississippi Rivers and into the Gulf.It flows through and around the towns of Nederland, Boulder, Marshall, Eldorado Springs, Louisville, Lafayette and Erie taking it from its high alpine origin near 13,000 feet through mountain canyons into urban areas at just above 5,000 feet. Boulder Creek was historically significant during the gold rush era for mining activities, a key reason for the founding of the City of Boulder.
Boulder Creek, a Waterkeeper Alliance Affiliate will be led by Ted Ross until the time when the organizational, fundraising and operational issues have matured to the point where a permanent leader will be hired. Ted will consult closely with the rest of the team at the Colorado Ocean Coalition. Ted Ross is a retired IBM executive, Information Technology and business strategy consultant with with IBM, Arthur Andersen and Price Waterhouse for 32 years. He has had a ifelong interest and concern with flowing water, ocean and ichthyological issues, and is the Ocean Ambassador of the Colorado Ocean Coalition and an SSI SCUBA Divemaster.
