Surma, a transboundary river in Bangladesh, is one of the most important rivers of the Brahmaputra-Borak-Meghna river basin in South-east Asia. Civilization by the bank of Surma can be dated back to 4,000 B.C. Sand mining, industrial pollutions, and encroachments threaten the river.
