Watauga Riverkeeper

Andy brings a diverse background in land use planning, conservation, and water resources science and policy to MountainTrue, as well as a passion for the High Country of Western North Carolina. He completed his B.S. in Geography and Urban and Regional Planning from Florida State University and his M.S. in Environmental Science and Policy from the University of South Florida where he focused on river ecology and watershed management, particularly within the South. Andy has worked in both public and private sectors doing land use, environmental, and transportation planning and joins us most recently from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission where he worked to protect and conserve Florida’s natural resources. Andrew has a lifelong love of the forests, rivers, mountains, and communities of Western North Carolina and is excited to get to work to ensure that these treasures are passed down unspoiled. When he’s not spending time on the river, you can find him playing an honest tune on his guitar or in the garden with his wife and daughter.
