Lake Victoria, surrounded by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, is the largest lake in Africa and the eighth in the world. Lake Victoria serves a population of 30 million people, with 2 million people depending directly and indirectly on the fishing activities it supports.
Leonard Akwany is a Kenyan environmental scientist born in Kisumu, Western Kenya. Leonard’s diverse career has included facilitating environmental entrepreneurship with multiple civil society organizations, mainstreaming environmental governance in local and national development planning. Leonard holds a B.Sc. in Natural Resources Management from Egerton University, Kenya and M.Sc. in Environmental Science, Policy and Management from University of Manchester UK.
