The Waccamaw Riverkeeper® is a full-time paid advocate for the Waccamaw River and adjacent lands in southeast North Carolina and northeast South Carolina. In addition, the Riverkeeper® advocates for protection of the greater Winyah Bay watershed encompassing the watersheds of the Lumber-Little Pee Dee, Pee Dee, Lynches and Black Rivers.
The Waccamaw Riverkeeper® is an employee of Winyah Rivers Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and reports to the President of its Board of Directors. The position is headquartered at Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina.
